WCS Local Chapters
expand opportunities for women to participate in and benefit their local
communities. Each chapter hosts 4 to 6 events each year, such as
panels, coffee chats, happy hours, hikes, and more! Chapters are in:

San Francisco Bay
Area, CAAmsterdam, Netherlands
London, U.K. ...with more on the
way!
There
are 5 Lead roles in each chapter, listed below. You may also choose to
volunteer for a chapter, but not in a lead role.
Chapter Lead
The Chapter Lead sets the vision and direction for the local WCS community.
They coordinate the leadership team, oversee chapter planning and events, and
serve as the main liaison with WCS Chapter Committee. This role is ideal for
someone who’s organized, collaborative, and passionate about empowering women
in cleantech and sustainability in their local community.
Time commitment: ~4–6 hours/month
Events Lead
The Events Lead plans and hosts engaging experiences — from coffee meetups and
hikes to panels, networking, and site tours (4–6 per year). They work closely
with other leads to design events that connect, educate, and inspire members.
Events can be co-hosted with various partner organizations that align with
WCS and the theme. They collaborate with WCS events coordinator.
Time commitment: ~3–5 hours/month (varies by event schedule)
Communications Lead
The Communications Lead keeps chapter members connected and informed. They
manage updates on the chapter’s WCS Slack channel and collaborate with the
WCS marketing coordinator to post on socials and contribute to
newsletters. This role suits someone who enjoys storytelling and building
community.
Time commitment: ~3–5
hours/month
Membership Lead
The Membership Lead welcomes new members, builds engagement, and helps grow the
local network. They track participation, follow up with attendees, and find
ways to connect members with shared interests and opportunities. They
collaborate with our WCS Membership coordinator.
Time commitment: ~3–5 hours/month
Partnership Lead
The Partnership Lead develops relationships with local organizations,
universities, and sponsors. They help identify co-hosts, speakers, venue
partners and other cross promotional opportunities to support chapter events
and expand community reach. Perfect for a natural connector with local ties in
cleantech or sustainability.
Time commitment: ~3–5 hours/month
