WCS Talks Unplugged Podcast Team - Instagram Community Connector
Help WCS Talks Unplugged become part of more of the conversations that matter! The Instagram Community Connector will grow the podcast’s visibility and relationships through consistent, thoughtful engagement on Instagram.
This is not a content-creation or feed-posting role. Instead, the volunteer will interact with people and organizations across the climate, cleantech, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and podcast communities on behalf of WCS Talks Unplugged.
Time Commitment: At least one hour each day, Monday through Friday. The daily hour may be divided into shorter engagement sessions. Because Instagram’s engagement features are primarily mobile, this role requires using the Instagram app on a personal smartphone.
Responsibilities:
Engage from the official WCS Talks Unplugged Instagram account for at least 60 minutes each weekday.
Find and follow relevant accounts, including women working in cleantech and sustainability, podcast guests, prospective guests, founders, industry leaders, partner organizations, and aligned podcasts.
Like and leave thoughtful, substantive comments on relevant posts.
Respond to appropriate comments on WCS Talks Unplugged posts using the podcast’s established voice.
Share and reshare relevant content to Instagram Stories in accordance with WCS guidelines.
Engage with podcast guests before, during, and after their episodes are released.
Help introduce the podcast to new audiences through authentic participation in relevant conversations.
Flag potential guests, partners, sponsors, content opportunities, questions, and sensitive interactions for the podcast team.
Maintain a simple record of activity, observations, and promising accounts or opportunities.
Protect account access and follow all WCS privacy and security procedures.
What This Role Does Not Include:
Creating, scheduling, or publishing posts to the Instagram feed
Designing graphics or writing episode captions
Developing the podcast’s overall social media strategy
Making commitments on behalf of WCS
Responding to sensitive messages, complaints, partnership inquiries, or policy questions without direction
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal volunteer:
Is comfortable and active on Instagram
Enjoys connecting with people and participating in online conversations
Writes warm, natural, and professional comments
Can recognize the difference between meaningful engagement and spammy activity
Has strong judgment and knows when to respond, when to pause, and when to escalate Is interested in women’s leadership, cleantech, climate, sustainability, entrepreneurship, or podcasting
Is reliable and able to maintain a consistent Monday–Friday routine
Is comfortable accessing the WCS Talks Unplugged account from a personal smartphone
Can handle account access and private information responsibly
Social media, community management, communications, or podcast experience is helpful but not required.
Training, engagement guidelines, and examples will be provided.
What Success Looks Like:
WCS Talks Unplugged maintains an active, thoughtful presence throughout the week.
More relevant people and organizations discover and engage with the podcast. Guests feel supported and amplified. Comments sound personal and specific—not automated or generic. New relationships, guest possibilities, collaborations, and audience-growth opportunities are identified. The account grows through genuine community participation rather than follow-for-follow tactics.

Technology and Account Access: The volunteer will use their personal smartphone to access the official WCS Talks Unplugged Instagram account through an approved access method. They must maintain a secure device, protect all account information, follow WCS security instructions, and immediately report a lost device or suspected account compromise. Applicants will never be asked to provide WCS with access to their personal Instagram account.
